Keypad lock

Almost all cell phones these days come with the ability to lock the keypad. How come the cordless/corded phones do not have a keypad lock feature?

I am sure every parent ran into this issue, and can be pretty handy.

Mark as read?

I know Facebook (or twitter) will never do it, but Facebook really needs a 'Mark as read' feature for posts that you have already read. If there is an update or a new comment on the post that you have already read, it can go 'unread'.

This way the same post doesn't have to keep popping up in my news feed. It needs to be like Email Conversation - 'Mark as read' till you get a new response to the conversation. And you can have further refinement for public page posts where random people keep on commenting, that says 'Mark as read forever'.

Ofcourse this goes against Facebook's idea of making money - by keeping people on their site all the time. So its not going to happen, and who wants to see an 'empty news feed page'. It will be so depressing for people. "Oh! nothing more to read or follow? I have no friends, I have no life! What do I do with my life now".

Something like a news reader (reader.google.com is dead. I am so sad, I used to love it) where you know you have read everything you wanted to, now move on to things that are more important in life.

Parasite

Isn't every human inherently a parasite?

Here is the meaning of a parasite by google:
par·a·site
ˈparəˌsīt/
noun
an organism that lives in or on another organism (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the host's expense.

And we all humans feed off of another organism by first spending roughly 40 weeks inside the 'host' organism (our mothers) and then another few months outside our mothers still feeding off of her.

Chopsticks

I have generally noticed that most of the people who eat slowly are (relatively) skinny. There is a scientific reason behind that: It takes upto 20 minutes for the stomach to realize its full and send a signal to the brain telling you to stop shoving your pie hole.

On a side note, (most of) the Asians are skinny.

I wonder if that is because culturally they always have (culturally) eaten with chopsticks, which only allows them to eat in small servings at a time. The amount of rice or meat you can eat with each iteration of a chopstick trip to your mouth is usually lesser than what you can shove with a fork or a spoon.

Did the Chopstick culture morph how a whole race looks as a whole?

Pant Zippers

I just realized that for all these years I have been Zipping (and unzipping) my pants with my right hand even though I am left handed. Somehow it always felt like something "I could not do in my sleep", so something was always off.

I wonder if there is a market for 'left handed' zippers for pants. Or if there is a way to make zippers easily accessible from both sides. Like not having a flap on top of the zipper.

On a related note, even the men's boxers are for right handed men only!

Such discrimination!

True Wireless Laptops

Laptop makers (including Apple) need to go the iPad way... Have an option of a Cellular data (4G, 3G etc) for every lightweight laptop. Then people don't have to worry about carrying a 'hotspot' with them or using their phone to connect their laptop to the inter-web while on the move.

I have a feeling Apple is going to put it in the Macbook Air as soon as they find some 'room' in the already skinny Air!

Alarm Clock

I think that (dedicated) alarm clocks are more or less dead and obsolete now. Everyone relies on their cellphones and (digital) wrist watches for alarms. And more or less everyone is pretty happy with their alarms. I feel there needs to be an additional feature to the exiting Alarm apps in the cell phones these days.

It needs to have a 'Date' field as well. This is how this will be helpful - if I know that on Saturday (not tomorrow) I have to wake up at 6 in the morning, but I do not want to wait till the night before on Friday night to remind myself to set an alarm for Saturday morning. With a date field, I can set an alarm for a date in the future with a time I know I have to wake up.

Even if for some reason, adding a date is an issue - just a 'Day of Week' + Time will be helpful to so many people who know their weekly schedule. That way they can set alarms (if needed) for all 7 days at the start of the week.
