I recently got invited to be a Groomsman for a friend's wedding. I feel it will be a really cool idea to have a rental place for Groomsmen and Bridesmaids clothing for the wedding, reception, and any other group activity like bachelor's party. One stop shop for every one close to the Groom and Bride. And once it gains popularity, it can expand from clothing to other key rentals.
Nice idea but your store inventory might need all sizes, all colors clothing with minimum 6-8 clothes of same type. Also a tailor would be needed who can custom-fit clothes for people as people like good-fit clothes on weddings. Latest dresses/accessories as per fashion would be required. So inventory would have to be changed constantly. Not sure how that would work.
ReplyDeleteDid your key rentals also mean gown rentals for convocations:)
I didnt think about the details of implementation just yet. I just wanted to start a blog where I can just throw ideas. How to implement it - its the reader's problem. :)
ReplyDeleteconvocation rentals is also a good 'sub idea'.
Men's wearhouse rents out clothing for grooms/men etc. i'm sure bride's stuff is available for rentals too. I think this is already being done?
ReplyDelete@TigerTimes, sure its being done by Men's wearhouse. Its the extra nice features this idea is offering that MWH is not. :)
ReplyDeleteMen's warehouse has the rentals for men but no one seems to be having rentals for the ladies. May be girls want fitted clothes and do not prefer rentals but it could be a good business, especially when the economic times are tough.
ReplyDeleteTo compete with Men's warehouse, you could give the customers the convenience of a tailor who would go to each of the groomsmen's house and take the size. This way, people would have to go to the store only once to pick up their stuff instead of going twice - once to give their size and then for pick-up.
With Men's clothes its easy because they all kinda look the same. LOL So yeah, rental for them will be a pretty good idea. But no girl would want to re-use a style/color scheme that has already been used at someone else's wedding. I guess it all comes down to the variety.
ReplyDeleteGuys tend to not care as much as girls do and it will be a pain to please the girls. :)
